I received product samples from Flahaven’s and Taylor and Colledge to aid in the creation of the #BacktoSchoolTreats week recipes. All opinions are mine alone. Click Here to Pin this Recipe for Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Granola Bars Homemade Granola Bars Have you ever tried to make your own granola bars at home?  They are super easy to make and taste so much better than any granola bar that you can buy at the store. There is usually some type of granola bar in our fridge. If I’m not making peanut butter chocolate chip granola bars, I am making up a batch of these Dark Chocolate Grain Free Granola bars. It  only takes a few wholesome ingredients to make up a batch of these granola bars, and it can be done in less than 30 minutes. The only baking that is required is lightly toasting the oats and peanuts in oven before they are mixed together which give the bars a less chewy and more cookie-like texture. Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Granola Bars Ingredients Old Fashioned Oats – I like to use Flahaven’s Irish Oats Natural Peanut Butter Dark chocolate chips Maple Syrup or Honey Vanilla or vanilla bean paste I used Taylor and Colledge Vanilla Bean Paste Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Granola Bars Recipe Steps Please note that this a list of steps to give you an idea how to make this recipe. Toast the oats and peanuts Combine and heat the  peanut butter and syrup Stir in the vanilla paste Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl Turn the mixture into a pan and press down firmly and refrigerate Total Estimated Time to Make this Recipe:  20 to 30 minutes Tips for Making Peanut Butter Granola Bars With Chocolate Chips After you have added all of the ingredients to the pan and patted it down, place a piece of parchment paper over the top and press down using your hands, a spatula or a cup, this will help to hold the bars together Homemade granola bars are  more fragile than store-bought, store them in the refrigerator for best results. If you want the chocolate chips to hold their shape, combine the nuts, oats and liquid ingredients and place in the refrigerator for 15 minutes before adding the chips.  We like the way the chips melt into the mixture, but that is up to you. Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars Variations    Use almonds and almond butter in place of the peanuts and peanut butter Add 2 tablespoons chia seeds to the mixture of ingredients For a nut-free version replace the peanut butter with a seed butter such as sun butter and pepitas, or sunflower seeds in place of the peanuts.
