I made this for dinner tonight. It doesn't get any easier than this. I didn't use the specified BBQ sauce brand but another one and used the beer we had on hand (Corona). It was delicious. My husband was very happy and my 19 month old LOVED it. After the short ribs were done, I decided to take them out of the dutch oven and reduce the liquid to make a sauce. I put the ribs in a glass pyrex and covered them with foil. I then put the dutch oven on the stove top and boiled it for approx. 30 minutes until it was about reduced by half. I then removed the onions. It was thickening by this point. I added 3 tbls. of apple cider vinegar, 2 tbls. brown sugar and a squirt of honey. I continued to reduce for an additional 10 minutes or so, just until it was the consistency of BBQ sauce. I served this on top of the short ribs. DELICIOUS! Served with a green salad and rice.

Hi Leonie! Thanks for trying my recipe. You'll love it! You can find my sauces online at http://www.bigacres.com or in a local independent grocery store, depending upon where you live.

Lennie, you can brown the meat first if you'd like. You can also put the meat at the end of the meal under the broiler for a few minutes to crisp it - just not too long so the sauce doesn't burn.

          Enjoy!

I have cooked ribs before just in barbecue sauce in the crockpot. I can't wait to try this recipe with the beer and still use the crockpot and let it cook even longer than 3hrs, I'm sure it will turn out delicious, I'll let you know, Thanks

This looks really easy to make; will definitely try it with light beer! Thanks Melanie.
