Cubed Steak With Fresh Tomato Sauce
Ingredients
- 1/4 c. salad oil
- 2 lb beef cubed steaks
- 6 med tomatoes cool water
- 1/4 c. minced green onions
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp basil
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
Directions
- In 10- or possibly 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat, in warm oil, cook steaks, a few at a time, 2 or possibly 3 min on each side or possibly till of desired doneness. Place on hot platter and keep hot. Chop tomatoes and slice the rest.
- Reduce heat to medium; to same skillet add in 1/4 c. water, minced tomatoes, green onions, sugar, salt and basil. Blend cornstarch and 1/4 c. cool water till smooth; gradually stir into tomato mix and cook, stirring till thickened. Add in sliced tomatoes; cook till heated through. Spoon tomato mix over steaks.
