There is nothing better than fresh cooked English Muffins. They smell heavenly, and taste wonderful. Good with any homemade jam, jelly or butter. Pear butter is my favorite!

    Ingredients

    • 2 c. warm water
    • 1 cup dry milk powder
    • 1-2 T. honey
    • 3 T. butter or oil
    • 1 tsp. salt
    • 1 T. yeast
    • 4-5 cups whole wheat flour
    • cornmeal

    Directions

    1. Combine water, milk powder, honey, butter, salt, and yeast in a bowl.
    2. Let rest 5 minutes.
    3. Beat in flour slowly until you have a soft dough.
    4. Let rise 1 hour.
    5. Punch down and pat out 1/2 inch thick on a floured surface.
    6. Cut into 3" rounds.
    7. Place on a cookie sheet and sprinkle with cornmeal.
    8. Let rise 1/2 hour.
    9. Then cook on a greased medium hot electric fry pan or griddle, 10 minutes per side. Cool.
    10. Split with a fork, toast and serve hot with your favorite spread.
