    Best served up with your favorite mashed potatoes, this is serious comfort food to slow cook in the oven on any weekend!

    Ingredients

    • 2.5 lbs Top Round Steak
    • 1 c flour
    • 1t salt
    • 2t garlic powder
    • 2t ground pepper
    • 1/2t paprika
    • 1/4 c vegetable oil
    • 1/2 c red wine (optional for deglazing)
    • 3 c beef broth
    • 2T tomato paste

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 325F
    2. Mix flour, garlic powder, salt, pepper, paprika together and dredge beef pieces on both sides.
    3. Heat oil in a large stove-to-oven pan with lid or dutch oven over med high heat.
    4. Brown all of the flour dredged meat on both sides.
    5. Remove meat to a plate.
    6. Deglaze pan with red wine and cook over high heat for 4-5 minutes to reduce liquid to half.
    7. Add beef broth and tomato paste.
    8. Return meat to pan, put lid on and place in oven.
    9. Simmer in oven at 325F for at least 3 hours. Add additional liquid at 2 hour point if necessary.
