Shoofly Cake

- 4 cups flour
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 3/4 cups shortening
- 1 cup molasses
- 2 cups hot water
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
Directions
- Mix flour, sugar, and shortening. Save 1 cup of the crumbs for top.
- Stir in the rest of the ingredients one at a time. Stir baking soda into water before adding it.
- Pour into an ungreased 9 by 12" pan.
- Sprinkle the dry crumbs over the top.
- Bake at 350 degrees for about one hour.
