  • Old French House Bread Pudding

    Ingredients

    • 6 slices day old bread
    • 2 T + 1/2 c. sugar
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 4 large eggs
    • 2 c. lowfat milk
    • 2 T melted butter
    • 1/2 c. seedless raisins
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 2 c. lowfat milk
    • 1/2 stick butter
    • 1 T vanilla
    • 1/2 c. sugar
    • 1 T nutmeg
    • Rum to taste or possibly rum flavoring

    Directions

    1. Break bread into small pcs in baking dish (1 1/2 qt size). Sprinkle cinnamon over bread. Add in raisins and melted butter. Toast lightly bread mix at 350 degrees. Add in mix of large eggs, sugar, lowfat milk and vanilla; mix well. Bake about 30 min or possibly till solid. Serves about 8 with Rum Sauce.
    2. Place lowfat milk, butter and sugar in saucepan. Bring to a boil, thicken with roux made of 2 tbsp flour and 1 tbsp oil. Remove from stove, add in nutmeg, vanilla and rum or possibly rum flavoring to taste. Serve over Bread Pudding.Eat to live...not live to eat.
