  • Indian Sago Pudding ( Sabudana Kheer )

    Ingredients

    • 150 gm sago
    • 600 ml lowfat milk
    • 100 gm sugar
    • 1 tsp cardamom pwdr
    • 2 Tbsp. cashew nuts
    • 150 ml evapourated lowfat milk

    Directions

    1. Wash the sago drain and allow to stand for 15 min.
    2. In the meantime mix the lowfat milk and sugar and bring to the boil.
    3. Reduce the heat and simmer for 5 min.
    4. Take off the heat and add in the cardamom pwdr cashew nuts and evapourated lowfat milk.
    5. Cover and reserve.
    6. Add in 300ml water to the sago and bring to the boil.
    7. Reduce the heat and simmer till the sago is cooked.
    8. Take off the heat cold slightly and pour in the lowfat milk mix.
    9. Serve cool adjusting the consistency with some water if necessary.
    10. This simple dessert is turned into something special by the addition of spices and nuts. It also makes an unusual breakfast food.
    11. Serves 4
