Homemade taco sauce is very easy to make and you will love having this sauce on hand. Homemade taco sauce is a very versatile sauce that can be used on any Mexican food, a lot of different meats and in other cooked dishes. You can double or triple this recipe. It freezes well and keeps in the fridge at least a week. I make tacos for dinner and the next morning put some chicken in the crock pot and pour some of this sauce over the chicken for another meal the following night. This sauce is good on most pork and can even be used to slather on meats you are grilling. It never goes to waste at my house and it has no artificial ingredients. This sauce would even make a great gift for a family member or friend that likes Mexican food. Be sure to check out many other make it yourself and how to tips on our site. 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce 1/3 cup water 1/4 teaspoon chili powder 1 teaspoon cumin powder 1 1/2 teaspoons onion flakes 1 tablespoon white vinegar 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt 1/4 teaspoon paprika 1/4 teaspoon white granulated sugar or could use honey 1/8 teaspoon cayenne Few drops hot sauce (optional) Combine all ingredients in a saucepan on top of the stove and simmer on low for 15 to 20 minutes.
