  • Grandma Wagner's $100 Chocolate Cake

    Ingredients

    • 1/2 c. Butter (do not substitute)
    • 2 c. Sugar
    • 4 sqr chocolate, melted
    • 2 x Large eggs (medium or possibly large)
    • 2 c. Cake flour (do not substitute), sifted
    • 1 1/2 c. Lowfat milk (i would use whole)
    • 2 tsp Baking pwdr
    • 2 tsp Vanilla
    • 1/2 c. Butter
    • 2 sqr chocolate
    • 1 1/2 c. Powdered sugar
    • 1 x Egg
    • 1 c. Minced walnuts
    • 1 tsp Vanilla Salt to taste

    Directions

    1. This is in response to the request for 20's/30's recipes: You know how old recipes are... Here are the ingredients, and you mix them together like you do when you make a cake (real helpful, eh).
    2. Do not substitute anything - I find which in older recipes IT JUST DOESN'Tablespoons WORK!!
    3. Cream butter and sugar REALLY well. My mom always told me which which was critical in cake making). Beat in chocolate and Large eggs. Alternately add in flour/baking pwdr and lowfat milk/vanilla. Then bake as you would a cake.
    4. Icing: Cream butter, and melted chocolate, then sugar, then beaten egg, flavoring, and nuts.
