  • Grandma's Fudge Cake

    Ingredients

    • 1 box Chocolate cake mix
    • 1 1/2 c. lowfat milk
    • 8 Tbsp. flour
    • 1 1/4 c. butter
    • 5 Tbsp. Shortening
    • 1 1/2 c. sugar
    • 1 tsp Vanilla
    • 1 1/4 c. Cocoa
    • 1 pch Salt
    • 1 c. Sugar
    • 1/4 c. Lowfat milk
    • 1/4 c. Butter

    Directions

    1. 1. Bake chocolate cake mix according to directions for two 9 inch layers. Let cake cold then split layers in half.
    2. 2. In a saucepan mix 1 1/2 c. lowfat milk and 8 Tbsp. flour.Cook till thick and set aside to cold.
    3. 3. Beat 1 1/4 c. of butter and 5 Tbsp. shortening till fluffy. Add in 1 1/2 c. sugar and mix well. Stir in the floor mix. Beat till mix stands in peaks. Stir in vanilla
    4. 4. Spread this mix between the cake layers and chill for 2 hrs.
    5. 5. In a saucepan combine cocoa, 1 c. sugar, salt 1/4 c. butter. Cook over low heat and bring to a boil. Boil mix for one minute, don't stir. Remove from heat and add in 1 tsp. vanilla and beat till thick, this may take a few min. Once thick our over cooled cake and let drizzle down sides of cake and over top. Keep cake refrigerated.
