Classic Crunchy Chocolate Chip Cookies
The King Arthur Flour Cookie Companion This is the quintessential crunchy (as opposed th chewy) chocolate chip cookie Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp cider vinegar or white vinegar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 cups unbleached flour
- 3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350 F
- Lightly grease (or line with parchment) two baking sheets
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, shortening, both of the sugars, vanilla, salt, and vinegar.
- Beat in the egg
- Add the baking soda and the flour
- Stir in the chocolate chips
- Drop the dough by the tablespoonful onto the prepared baking sheets
- Bake the cookies for 12 to 14 minutes or until they are golden brown
- Remove them from the oven
- Transfer to a rack to cool
