  • Classic Crunchy Chocolate Chip Cookies

    Ingredients

    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
    • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
    • 1 cup brown sugar
    • 1/2 cup white sugar
    • 2 tsp vanilla
    • 3/4 tsp salt
    • 1 tbsp cider vinegar or white vinegar
    • 1 large egg
    • 1 tsp baking soda
    • 2 cups unbleached flour
    • 3 cups semisweet chocolate chips

    Directions

    1. Preheat the oven to 350 F
    2. Lightly grease (or line with parchment) two baking sheets
    3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, shortening, both of the sugars, vanilla, salt, and vinegar.
    4. Beat in the egg
    5. Add the baking soda and the flour
    6. Stir in the chocolate chips
    7. Drop the dough by the tablespoonful onto the prepared baking sheets
    8. Bake the cookies for 12 to 14 minutes or until they are golden brown
    9. Remove them from the oven
    10. Transfer to a rack to cool
