    Candied Fruit Bread

My mom had the opportunity recently to go through some old recipes from when she was married-50 years ago. She was looking for our family’s traditional Stollen recipe and came across this recipe as well. It was so easy but it turned out so well! I baked it in these cute bundt “pans” that were actually paper that I got at Michael’s and they made for a great Holiday gift..

    Candied Fruit Bread

    Ingredients:

    Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Add in the chopped nuts and candied fruit. In a separate bowl, beat together the eggs and milk. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, stirring just enough to moisten the flour. Pour into a greased loaf pan and bake for 1 hour.

Top with a powdered sugar/milk frosting

Maybe I'm one of the few people who really appreciate candied fruit - or at least, one of the few who realize they like and appreciate it. This recipe reminds me of one my grandmother used to make at Christmas - We had it for breakfast with warm honey butter. Thank you for sharing.
