Beer Sauteed/Steamed Cleaned and Split Blue Crabs
This extremely delicious blue claw crab recipe features cleaned and split crabs sauteed in olive oil and garlic and then steamed in beer. Ingredients
- 1 Dozen Live Blue Crabs
- 1/4 c Extra virgin olive oil
- 3 Cloves garlic, crushed and pressed
- 1 - 12oz bottle or can of malt or lager beer
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp Old Bay seasoning
- 1/4 tsp Garlic powder
Directions
- Clean and split the live crabs (Tip: Stun crabs in ice water for 5 minutes or put them in the freezer for about 2 hours before cleaning).
- Heat the extra virgin olive oil over medium heat in a large saute pan or wok.
- Add the garlic, salt, Old Bay, and garlic powder to the oil.
- Add cleaned and split crabs when garlic is blossomed.
- Stir and saute crabs until about half way cooked.
- Add the beer and cover.
- Steam until crabs are completely cooked through.
- Serve plain or over pasta.
