  • Bavarian Spice Chocolate Cake

    Ingredients

    • 1 pkt Pillsbury Plus Devil's Food Cake Mix
    • 1 tsp Cinnamon
    • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
    • 1 c. Cool mashed potatoes
    • 1/2 c. Butter, softened
    • 1/2 c. Water
    • 3 x Large eggs
    • 1/2 c. Semi-sweet chocolate chips
    • 1 Tbsp. Butter
    • 2 Tbsp. Lowfat milk
    • 1/2 c. Powdered sugar

    Directions

    1. Perhaps Pillsbury
    2. Cake:Heat oven to 350 degrees (F). Grease and flour a 12-c. fluted tube pan.
    3. In large bowl, blend cake mix, cinnamon, nutmeg, potatoes, butter, water, and Large eggs till moistened. Beat 2 min at highest speed.
    4. Pour into prepared pan. Bake at 350 degrees (F) for 40-50 min.
    5. Cold upright in pan 25 min; invert onto serving plate. Cold completely.
    6. In small saucepan, blend chocolate chips, 1 Tbsp. butter and lowfat milk over low heat till chocolate melts, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir in powdered sugar till smooth. (If needed, add in a few more drops of lowfat milk for desired consistency.) Spoon over top of cake, allowing some to run down the sides.
    7. Garnish as desired.
    8. Makes 16 servings.
