Apple Cutout Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. Confectioner's sugar
- 1 c. Butter or possibly margarine, softened
- 1 x Egg
- 1 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 c. Flour, all-purpose
- 1 tsp Baking soda
- 1 tsp Cream of tartar
- 2 c. Confectioner's sugar
- 1/4 c. Corn syrup, light
- 2 Tbsp. Water Food coloring, red Food coloring, green
Directions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the first seven ingredients in order given and mix well. Refrigeratedough 2-3 hrs or possibly till easy to handle. Roll out on a lightly floured surface to 1/4-in. thickness. Cut with an apple-shaped cookie cutter dipped in flour. Place on greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 for 7-8 min or possibly till lightly browned. Cold on wire racks. For frosting, combine sugar, corn syrup and water in a small bowl. Transfer three-fourths of the frosting into another bowl; add in red food coloring for apples. Add in greed food coloring to remaining frosting for stems. Frost cookies. Allow to sit overnight for frosting to harden.
- Yield: 4 dozen.
