Vintage Chocolate Chiffon Pie
Ingredients
- 1 C Evaporated Milk
- 1C water
- 2 eggs
- 8 Tblsps sugar
- 4 Tblsps flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 sq. chocolate
- 1 blind baked pie shell
- You will need a double boiler.
- You must prepare your pie shell previously to making Chocolate Chiffon Filling.
Directions
- Melt chocolate in double boiler, add flour,
- 6 Tblsps sugar and the salt.
- Combine with milk and water, stirring constantly w/ wirw whisk. Continue on heat until whisked smooth.
- The longer it cooks, the smoother it becomes.
- Add egg yolks, cook/whisk 5 min longer.
- Remove from heat.
- Cool, and add vanilla.
- Pour into prepared pie shell.
- Now take your egg whites and 2 Tblspns sugar into a stiff fluff - spoon over the pie.
- Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes or until meringue browns.
