THIS IS A CASSEROLE DISH AND I DON'T KNOW WHY IT'S CALLED TAMALE PIE...BECAUSE IT DOESN'T HAVE ANY TAMALE'S IN IT. BUT, THIS IS WHAT ITS ALWAYS BEEN CALLED. Ingredients
- 1 LARGE FAMILY PKG OF HAMBURGER MEAT
- 2 PKGS OF TACO SEASONING
- 2 CUPS OF WATER
- 1 BELL PEPPER- DICED
- 1 ONION-DICED
- 1 CAN OF RANCH STYLE BEANS
- 1 CAN OF ROTEL
- 2 PKGS OF JIFFY CORNBREAD MIX
- 1 PKG OF SHREDDED CHEESE
- SOUR CREAM
Directions
- BROWN AND DRAIN YOUR HAMBURGER MEAT, ADD BOTH PACKAGES OF TACO SEASONING AND 2 CUPS OF WATER AND STIR.
- ADD YOUR BELL PEPPER, ONION, RANCH STYLE BEANS, AND ROTEL AND SIMMER FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES.
- PUT YOUR HAMBURGER MEAT MIXTURE INTO A LARGE RECTANGULAR PAN. MIX YOUR CORNBREAD AS BOX DIRECTIONS REQUIRE AND POUR BATTER OVER THE MEAT MIXTURE.
- BAKE IN THE OVEN FOR APPROXIMATELY 20-25 MINUTES UNTIL THE CORNBREAD IS COOKED GOLDEN BROWN.
- USE A BUTTER KNIFE TO CHECK TO MAKE SURE THE CORNBREAD IS COOKED ALL THE WAY THROUGH.
- ONCE IT COOLS OFF USE A KNIFE TO CUT INTO SQUARE LIKE PORTIONS AND SERVE WITH SHREDDED CHEESE AND SOUR CREAM.
