Sweet Corn Bread
A simple recipe that leaves the cornbread with a crusty exterior and moist, crumbly center. Ingredients
- 1 cup yellow corn meal
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 3 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1/2 stick butter, melted
- 2 Tbs vegetable oil
Directions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
- In a large bowl combine corn meal, flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
- Add milk, egg, and butter. Mix until fairly smooth, about 1 minute.
- Grease cast iron skillet with vegetable oil. Pour batter into prepared skillet and bake for 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before serving.
