Previous This Strawberry Mojito has the right amount of strawberry, lime, white rum, and mint with a touch of fizz. Strawberries and mint are muddled together with sugar, shaken with ice, rum, and lime juice for a cool and refreshing beverage that will help cool the heat from your favorite spicy Mexican meal! I love to make Strawberry Mojitos year round, and I especially love to make them when fresh strawberries are in season. In NY that usually means June, but in the spring we always have fresh Florida strawberries to enjoy, making this mojito a treat to enjoy on Valentines Day and Cinco de Mayo, as well as all summer long. A Fruity Take On Mojitos I have always loved a classic mojito. The first time I ever had one was on a Caribbean cruise and they have become a favorite summertime adult beverage. A mojito is a rum based beverage that has muddled mint, lime juice, and club soda. This Strawberry Mojito is much like the classic, but with fresh strawberries muddled with the mint. I have also made mojitos with peach, mango, watermelon, black cherry, and now this strawberry. I love the fresh fruity addition to this drink and I think you will too! What is Muddling Muddling another term for mashing. For instance, for a classic mojito, you muddle the mint and sugar together to release the oils from the mint. When muddling in this recipe, you are breaking down both the strawberries and the mint to release the oils from the mint and the juice from the strawberries.  What You Need To Make Strawberry Mojitos As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. (this is what I did as my cocktail shaker has made it into my packed boxes for my move!)If you use a mason jar, be sure to strain the muddled fruit before pouring into the drinking glass.Swap out vodka for the rum.Substitute the sugar in the beverage for 1/4 to 1/3 cup of simple syrup. If this is done, you will still need to use 1/2 tablespoon when muddling the strawberries and mint. The grittiness from the sugar helps to release the oils and juices.Depending on how sweet you like your drinks, reduce or increase the amount of sugar in the strawberry mojito.
