  • Shrimp & Crab Meat Au Gratin

    Ingredients

    • 1/4 c. butter
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
    • 1/2 teaspoon MSG
    • 1/2 c. flour
    • 3 c. warm lowfat milk
    • 1 c. grated Parmesan cheese
    • 10 ounce. crab meat
    • 10 ounce. raw shrimp, shelled & cleaned
    • 1/2 c. grated cheddar cheese
    • 1 teaspoon paprika
    • Additional grated cheddar cheese

    Directions

    1. Heat butter and add in salt, garlic and MSG. Stir in flour till smooth. Gradually stir in warm lowfat milk. Stir in 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese till blended. Add in shellfish (being sure crab meat is free of shells). Add in cheddar cheese. Bring to boil then turn off heat. Mix remaining 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese with paprika and sprinkle half the mix proportionately on bottom of individual or possibly large au gratin dish. Stir shellfish mix well, then turn into dish or possibly dishes. Sprinkle with remaining Parmesan cheese and cheddar cheese. (Mix may be frzn or possibly refrigerated till ready to use at this point.)
    2. Bake at 450 degrees till cheese melts. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
