    Quick Croatian sour cream rolls

    These popular Croatian yeast rolls are very light and very easy to make.

    Ingredients

    • 600 g cake flour
    • 12 g baking powder (1 packet)
    • 1 ½ tsp salt
    • 200 ml sour cream
    • 100 ml sunflower oil
    • 200 ml warm milk
    • 7 g dry yeast (1 packet)
    • 1 tbs sugar
    • 1 egg yolk, beaten
    • 2 tbs coarse sea salt, for sprinkling
    • Sesame and caraway seeds, for sprinkling

    Directions

    1.
    Mix in a bowl flour, baking powder and salt. Add oil and sour cream, stir and combine.
    2.
    In a cup mix milk, dry yeast and sugar, add to flour mixture and knead dough until smooth.
    3.
    Divide the dough into two equal parts and flatten each with a rolling pin into a ½ millimetre thick circle.
    4.
    Divide and cut each circle into 12 triangles; roll each triangle into a roll.
    5.
    Arrange rolls on oiled or silicone lined baking sheet and leave to stand in a warm place for 15 minutes.
    6.
    Brush rolls with beaten yolk, sprinkle with coarse sea salt, caraway and sesame seeds and bake at 190˚C for 10-15 minutes or until golden.
    7.
    Cover rolls with kitchen towel and leave them to rest for a few minutes before serving.
