Provolone SPAM On Grilled Sourdough Bread
Is it panini? Is it pizza? No, it's cheese-covered SPAM on grilled sourdough bread. It's a quick and easy recipe that literally 'cooks' in a couple of minutes. I used teriyaki-flavored SPAM and provolone cheese and they blended quite well with the sour bread. Serve it with a side of fresh, chilled cucumber slices and you'll have a delicious snack or breakfast befitting the busy person that you are. Ingredients
- Two, 1/4-inch thick slices of SPAM
- 4 slices of provolone cheese
- 2 slices of sourdough bread, 1/2-inch thick
- 4 slices of fresh chilled cucumber
- 1 tbsp of cubed tomatoes
- Salt and pepper to taste (optional)
- 1 tbsp Olive oil
Directions
- Heat Olive oil on a pan over medium heat.
- Fry SPAM slices until slightly browned on both sides.
- Remove from heat and place on a plate lined with paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Grill the bread slices on a panini maker or stove top and set aside. Melt the cheese on a slightly heated pan or in the microwave.
- Place a slice of SPAM on a grilled bread slice and pour melted cheese over the SPAM.
- Using a small butter knife, spread the cheese evenly on top of the SPAM.
- Top with fresh tomato and serve with cucumber slices on the side.
- If desired add salt and pepper to taste
- Repeat process for the other bread slice.
