Perfect Pie Crust
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 sticks cold butter
- 3 cups flour
- 1 TBSP sugar
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1/3 cup shortening, diced
- 1/2 cup ice water
Directions
- Cut butter into 1/2 inch dice and put back in fridge.
- Place the flour, sugar and salt in the bowl of a food processor fitted with a steel blade. Pulse to mix.
- Add the butter and shortening and pulse 10-12 times until the size of peas.
- With the machine running, pour cold water into tube until the dough forms a ball. Dump dough onto a floured surface and form into 2 equal sized discs.
- Refrigerated for at least 30 minutes
- Roll disc on a floured surface into 12-13 inch circle.
