PEPPERY WHITE CHEDDAR BISCUITS
GREAT WITH JUST ABOT ANYTHING OR JUST SOME NICE FRESH BUTTER ON THEM ..ENJOY Ingredients
- 4CUPS ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
- 2 TBSP BAKING POWDER
- 1/2 TSP SALT
- 1/2 CUP SHORTENING
- 1/4 CUP BUTTER
- 1-1-2 CUPS WHITE CHEDDAR CHEESE
- 2-3 TSP COARSE BLACK PEPPER
- 1 1/2 CUPS MILK
- 1 EGG
- 1 TSP WATER
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees
- Lightly grease a large baking sheet
- set aside
- In a large bowl,stir together flour,baking powder,and salt
- Using a pastry blender,cut in shortening and butter until mixture resembles course crumbs
- Add cheese and pepper mix well
- Make a well in the center of the flour mixture ,add milk all at once stir till moistened
- Turn dough onto lightly floured surface
- Knead dough by folding and gently pressing dough for about 12 strokes until almost smooth
- Divide dough into a six inch square
- Using a sharp knife ,cut dough into 2 inch squares
- In a small bowl whisk egg and the water together
- Brush on tops of biscuits
- Place on baking sheet and bake till golden
- Place on a wire rack and serve warm .....YUMMY
