    Old Fashioned Cretons (meat pâté)

    A typical French Canadian meat pâté served cold, with fresh bread slices or crackers as an appetizer.


    • 1 lb minced pork, more fat than lean
    • 1 cup dry bread crumbs
    • 1 onion, grated
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • salt and pepper to taste
    • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
    • 1/2 tsp cinnamon or to taste
    • 1 cup milk


    1. Place all the ingredients in a saucepan. Mix together, cover and cook over low heat for 1 hour. Stir once or twice during the cooking period. When cooked, pour into a bowl, cover and refrigerate.
    2. This pâté is served cold, with fresh bread slices or crackers
