Old Fashioned Cretons (meat pâté)
A typical French Canadian meat pâté served cold, with fresh bread slices or crackers as an appetizer. Ingredients
- 1 lb minced pork, more fat than lean
- 1 cup dry bread crumbs
- 1 onion, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon or to taste
- 1 cup milk
Directions
- Place all the ingredients in a saucepan. Mix together, cover and cook over low heat for 1 hour. Stir once or twice during the cooking period. When cooked, pour into a bowl, cover and refrigerate.
- This pâté is served cold, with fresh bread slices or crackers
