    Directions

    1. 1. Preparation:
    2. - Clean and slice the mushrooms.
    3. - Finely chop the onion and green chili.
    4. - Puree the tomatoes.
    5. - Gather all the spices and other ingredients.
    6. 2. Cooking:
    7. - Heat 2 tablespoons of oil or ghee in a pan over medium heat.
    8. - Add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds and let them splutter.
    9. - Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
    10. - Add 1 teaspoon of ginger-garlic paste and the chopped green chili. Sauté for a couple of minutes until the raw smell goes away.
    11. 3. Making the Masala:
    12. - Add the pureed tomatoes to the pan and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
    13. - Add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon red chili powder, 1 teaspoon coriander powder, and 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
    14. 4. Cooking the Mushrooms:
    15. - Add the sliced mushrooms to the masala. Stir well to coat the mushrooms with the masala.
    16. - Add salt to taste and 1/2 cup of water. Mix well.
    17. - Cover the pan and let it cook on medium heat for about 10-12 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender and cooked through.
    18. 5. Finishing Touches:
    19. - If using fresh cream, add 1/4 cup of cream to the pan and mix well. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
    20. - Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of garam masala and mix well.
    21. 6. Serving:
    22. - Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.
    23. - Serve hot with rice, roti, or naan.
