    Soft Applesauce cookies and great comfort food that will caramelize on the top and bottoms but have a great mouth feel.

    Ingredients

    • 1/2 cup shortening
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1 egg
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 tsp cinnamon
    • 1/4 tsp cloves
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1/2 tsp baking soda
    • 1 tsp baking powder
    • 1 cup thick applesauce

    Directions

    1. Cream shortening and add sugar gradually.
    2. Add egg and beat well.
    3. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with applesauce to the first mixture.
    4. Drop on greased cookie sheet.
    5. Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 15 min.
