  • La Madeleine's Ham And Potato Gratin

    Ingredients

    • 2 c. heavy cream
    • 1 c. half-and-half
    • 1 x garlic clove chopped
    • 2 tsp salt
    • 2 1/2 lb red potatoes sliced 1/8" thick
    • 3/4 lb ham diced 3/4" cubes
    • 1 1/2 c. grated Gruyere cheese Freshly-grnd pepper to taste

    Directions

    1. Combine the cream, half-and-half, garlic, salt and pepper in a large saucepan. Add in the sliced potatoes and stir well to completely coat them with the cream mix. Bring to a simmer and cook for 25 min or possibly till the potatoes are tender.
    2. Gently stir in the diced ham. Don't let the potatoes boil. When the potatoes are tender, adjust the seasonings and pour into a 10- by 8-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with the cheese and bake in the center of a preheated 425 degrees oven till golden brown on top and the potatoes are completely tender, about 20 min.
