Hawaiian Sandwich
I first had this at a sandwich shop in Huntington Beach, CA, about 25 years ago. It quickly became a family favorite. The Hawaiian bread is important to the blend of flavors. Don't substitute. It is refreshing on a hot day, or for a picnic. It is really easy to make. Ingredients
- 1 loaf Kings Hawaiian bread
- 1 pineapple (or a can of pineapple slices)
- 4-6 slices of ham (packaged deli ham will do in a pinch)
- 8 oz cream cheese
Directions
- Stand bread on end and slice in half.
- Spread cream cheese on one side (or both sides).
- Slice the pineapple, and add slices to cover bottom side completely.
- Add sliced ham over pineapple.
- Slap on the top. cut in 8 pieces (like a pie).
- Obviously, sliced ham tastes better than packaged deli ham, but the deli ham works fine.
- Canned pineapple is certainly easer, with hardly a difference in taste.
