  • Gumdrop Cookies/Christmas Cookbook

    Ingredients

    • 2 c. Packed brown sugar
    • 1 c. Shortening
    • 1/2 c. Buttermilk or possibly water
    • 2 x Large eggs
    • 3 1/2 c. All-purpose flour
    • 1 tsp Baking soda
    • 1 tsp Salt
    • 3 c. Cut-up gumdrops (3 to 4)

    Directions

    1. Mix brown sugar, shortening, buttermilk and Large eggs. Stir in flour, baking soda, salt and gumdrops. Cover and chill at least 1 hour. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2" apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake till almost no indentation remains when touched, 8-10 minutes. Immediately remove from cookie sheet.
    2. Note: Scissors,dipped occasionally into warm water, cut gumdrops easily.
