    Betty Crocker Christmas Very Christmasey !! Note: Scissors, dipped occasionally into hot water, cut the gumdrops easily

    Ingredients

    • 2 cups packed brown sugar
    • 1 cup shortening
    • 1/2 cup butter or milk
    • 2 eggs
    • 3 1/2 cups flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 3 to 4 cups cut-up gumdrops

    Directions

    1. Mix the brown sugar, shortening, buttermilk, and the eggs
    2. Stir in the flour, baking soda, salt, and the gumdrops
    3. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour
    4. Heat the oven to 400 F
    5. Drop the dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets
    6. Bake until almost no indentation remains when touched, about 8 to 10 minutes
    7. Immediately remove from the cookie sheets
