We bought another freezer. We now have 2 upright freezers. They’re on the small side, even by European standards. Our new one is the same size as the old one. They are each about 5 ft high and 2 feet wide. We could put half of a cow in our freezer in the U.S. I’ve never seen one that big here. One of these is now fairly full with the lamb we got last week. Since moving to France and having a potager, I have had a freezer devoted to storing my harvest. By early fall I have it full of soups and bags of vegetables. It’s usually carefully organized with every nook and cranny tightly packed. It stays closed until the cool weather hits at which time I start using my bounty. Prior to that we still eat the fresh produce from the garden. When I had too many tomatoes or summer squash to eat they went into the compost. This year they’ll go into the second freezer. With the pandemic likely to last until at least the beginning of 2021 and the economic downturn likely to last a lot longer it seemed prudent to preserve all of the food I can grow. Plus I can now buy the big boxes of boneless, skinless chicken breasts when they’re on sale – which is good as we have them for dinner at least twice a week. Sadly, it’s only smart enough to allow us to watch French Netflix. To watch Hulu or Prime or U.S. Netflix we need to use my laptop connected to the tv via hdmi cable. Our house is stone, with thick walls. In order to get the wifi to the tv from the router I use an extender. With me so far? For the last 3 years that has worked fairly well, with only the occasional hiccup in streaming. About 2 weeks ago things sort of stopped. There would be long pauses as we waited for data to be buffered in order for the show to play. Enough with the background…. I did all the usual tests and here is where I’m at. I bought a new extender, plugged it in and all is well for the first 10 – 15 minutes. Then the same problem started – the little spinning circle while the show sat, frozen, on the screen. I turned off the extender and it started playing immediately, using wifi directly from the router…. for 10 – 15 minutes. Long story short….. We can watch anything if I switch between extender and router every 10 minutes. That’s all so bizarre I cannot wrap my head around any possible causes. It has to be gremlins…. Right?
