    Ingredients

    • 1 lb. ground beef
    • 1 avocado
    • 1 lb. mushrooms, washed and sliced
    • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
    • 1/3 cup red wine (not the grocery store cooking wine!!)
    • 1 tbsp flour
    • 1/4 cup cold water
    • Swiss cheese, sliced
    • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 tbsp seasoned salt
    • 1 tsp coarsely ground pepper
    • 1 tsp garlic powder
    • 1 package hamburger rolls

    Directions

    1. Combine the beef, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Form into patties and refrigerate.
    2. In a saute pan over medium heat, melt the butter.
    3. Add the mushrooms and saute for about 2-3 minutes, stirring. Add the red wine, bring to a slight boil and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer, stirring frequently, about 15-20 minutes.
    4. Combine the flour and water; add to the mushrooms. Stir until thickened, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and cover.
    5. Prepare your grill.
    6. Cut the avocado lengthwise down the middle, peel the halves and remove the pit.
    7. Once the grill is ready, add the burgers. When they have just a couple of minutes left, add the avocado halves cut side down on the grill, they only take about 1 or 2 minutes so watch them carefully. Cut them into fairly thin slices.
    8. To assemble, spoon some of the mushrooms on top of the burger, the swiss cheese, then avocado.
