Grandma's Oatmeal Cookies
Taste Of Home - Mary Ann Konechne Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 cups shortening
- 4 eggs
- 4 tsp water
- 4 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 cups quick-cooking oats
- 2 cups chopped raisins
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- Additional granulated sugar or colored sugar
Directions
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the sugar and shortening until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time
- Beat well after each addition.
- Beat in the water
- Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
- Add to the creamed mixture
- Mix well
- Stir in the oats, raisins, and walnuts
- On a surface sprinkled with additional sugar or colored sugar, roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thickness
- Cut out with desired cookie cutters
- Place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets
- Bake at 350 F for 12-15 minutes or until set
- Remove to wire racks to cool
