  • French Onion Soup (in the Crockpot)

    So easy, yet so amazingly delicious. Throw everything into the crockpot and come home to a hearty soup. This is an easy recipe to double and that is highly recommended if you love French Onion Soup

    Ingredients

    • 2 cans of beef broth
    • 3 Tbsp. butter
    • 2 yellow onions sliced
    • 1/2 Tbsp. granulated sugar
    • 1/4 Cup cooking sherry (or dry white wine - optional)
    • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt or to taste
    • 4 slices French bread (or bread of your choice)
    • Gruyere or Swiss cheese

    Directions

    1. Heat your crockpot to high and add butter to start melting
    2. Add sliced onions separated to make rings then cover them in the butter
    3. Add the beef broth, sugar, salt, and sherry
    4. Cook high for 6-8 hours or low for 10-12 - Until onions are translucent
    5. preheat oven to the broiling option
    6. Toast bread that you are using. .
    7. Slice or grate cheese
    8. Cover the toast with cheese then float the bread and cheese on the top of the soup
    9. Remove stoneware from crockpot and place the UNCOVERED stoneware into the oven
    10. Broil for a minute or two until the cheese is slightly browned and melted
