I found this recipe on "taste of Southern" website and I altered it a tiny bit and it is better than the other recipe I have on here for this. Love this recipe and got five stars from the family on it.

    Ingredients

    • INGREDIENTS:
    • 2 ½ pounds of hamburger meat
    • 1 tsp garlic powder
    • ¼ tsp black pepper
    • 1 tsp salt
    • ¼ cup bread crumbs
    • 1 large onion
    • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
    • 2 tbsp butter
    • 4 cups water
    • 2 pkg pioneer brown gravy mix or other brown gravy mix as long as it can yield 4 cups gravy.

    Directions

    1. First in a bowl combine hamburger, garlic powder, pepper, salt bread crumbs, Worcestershire sauce. Mix together with your hands until well blended.
    2. Heat a skillet on the medium high heat
    3. Make oval patties with the hamburger mixture
    4. Brown patties on both sides (don’t worry about cooking all the way through as you will put them back to cook the rest of the way later.)
    5. When browned on both sides remove from skillet
    6. I drained the grease but the original recipe said not to. Add butter when butter is melted add the onions sauté until translucent but not burned dark brown.
    7. While the onions are cooking. Take the two package of pioneer gravy mix and just add all the water and the mix in a bowl or pan whisk to blend.
    8. Once onions are ready, return your patties back to the skillet, then add the brown gravy
    9. Let simmer on medium heat until the gravy thickens and patties are cooked through roughly 30-45 minutes.
