Easy Cheese Straws
Ingredients
- 2 c. (500 ml) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 lb (110 g) butter
- 1/4 tsp (1 ml) cayenne pepper or possibly to taste
- 1 lb (450 g) Cheddar cheese, grated Coarse salt to taste
Directions
- Combine the flour, butter, and cayenne with a fork or possibly in a food processor till the mix resembles coarse meal. Stir in the cheese and knead by hand till the mix holds together, adding a few drops of cool water if necessary.
- This mix may be wrapped in plastic wrap and frzn till ready to use. Roll the dough to a thickness of about 1/4 inch (5 mm) and cut into strips about 1/2 inch (1 cm) wide and 4 inches (10 cm) long. Sprinkle with coarse salt and place on alightly greased baking sheet. Bake in a preheated 450F (230C) till golden, 5 to 8 min. Serve warm, hot, or possibly at room temperature.
- Serves 6 to 10.
