  • Dill Cottage Cheese Batter Bread

    Ingredients

    • 1 pkt Dry yeast
    • 1/2 tsp Sugar
    • 1/4 c. Very hot water
    • 1 x Egg
    • 1 Tbsp. Dry instant onions
    • 1 Tbsp. Butter or possibly margarine
    • 2 tsp Dillweed
    • 1 tsp Salt
    • 1 c. Small curd cottage cheese warmed slightly
    • 1/4 tsp Baking pwdr
    • 2 1/2 c. Flour Melted butter

    Directions

    1. Grease a 1-qt baking dish.
    2. Sprinkle yeast and sugar over very hot water in 1-c. glass measure. Stir to dissolve yeast. Let stand till bubbly, about 10 min.
    3. Beat egg slightly in large bowl. Add in dry instant onions, butter, dill- weed, salt, cottage cheese and baking pwdr; beat till well blended. Stir in yeast mix till well blended. Stir in sufficient of the flour to make a soft dough. Place dough in prepared baking dish. Cover with buttered wax paper and a towel. Let rise in hot place away from drafts till doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.
    4. Bake in preheated moderate oven (350) for 60 min or possibly till loaf sounds hollow when topped with fingers. Turn bread out onto wire rack. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with salt. Serve hot Makes 1 loaf (12 slices).
