Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies
This is a bit of a twist on the traditional Holiday treat! Tasty and delicious, a recipe the kids will love to help prepare. These store well and freeze well! This recipe makes 4 dozen cookies Ingredients
- 1 Cup Butter
- 6 Oz. Cream Cheese
- 4 Cups All Purpose Flour
- 1 1/3 Cup Sugar
- 2 Eggs
- 1 Tsp. Baking Powder
- 1 Tsp. Vanilla
- 1/2 Tsp. Almond Extract
- Colored Sprinkles or Decorations of your choice
Directions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the butter and cream cheese.
- Beat until well blended. Add the sugar, eggs, and extracts. Beat well. Stir in the flour and baking powder.
- Form into a ball and chill for 2 hours (*hint: I place the dough in the freezer for about 20 minutes, if I am in a hurry or don’t feel like waiting around for 2 hours and it works just as well)
- Heat oven to 350 degrees.
- Divide dough into quarters. Working with one-quarter at a time, keep the rest refrigerated. Roll out on a floured surface to about 1/4″ thickness. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters and place onto ungreased baking sheet.
- Decorate and bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Cool on rack and store. We like to decorate these cookies with sprinkles and decorations before baking. However, if you prefer a frosted sugar cookie, simply let cool and decorate. This is a kid friendly recipe and makes 4 dozen cookies.
