Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Butter
  • 6 Oz. Cream Cheese
  • 4 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1 1/3 Cup Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Tsp. Baking Powder
  • 1 Tsp. Vanilla
  • 1/2 Tsp. Almond Extract
  • Colored Sprinkles or Decorations of your choice

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the butter and cream cheese.
  2. Beat until well blended. Add the sugar, eggs, and extracts. Beat well. Stir in the flour and baking powder.
  3. Form into a ball and chill for 2 hours (*hint: I place the dough in the freezer for about 20 minutes, if I am in a hurry or don’t feel like waiting around for 2 hours and it works just as well)
  4. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  5. Divide dough into quarters. Working with one-quarter at a time, keep the rest refrigerated. Roll out on a floured surface to about 1/4″ thickness. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters and place onto ungreased baking sheet.
  6. Decorate and bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Cool on rack and store. We like to decorate these cookies with sprinkles and decorations before baking. However, if you prefer a frosted sugar cookie, simply let cool and decorate. This is a kid friendly recipe and makes 4 dozen cookies.
