    Compotes

Fruit compote is a perfect dessert fur summer days since it’s cold, light and refreshing. Oh, and it’s easy-peasy to make. Compotes can be made either from fresh fruit or from dried fruit. It contains either a single fruit or a mixture of various fruits. Also, what fruit to use in a compote might depend on the season. I make Quince Compote or Dried Apple Compote in Winter and I mostly serve the latter hot just like a fruit tea. There are more options of fruit in summer, but I’m sharing a compote with a mixture of dried and fresh fruits today. Mom is making it for me for a completely different purpose these days.

Did you know that compote is one of those helpful foods for breastfeeding moms? It is known that compotes increase milk supply when it is made with some certain dried fruits. I have been drinking this magical compote since the arrival of our little boy and I haven’t experienced any porblems like low milk supply.

I have one or two cups of it and meet my need of fruit in a day this way. A typical compote contains sugar, but this one doesn’t need any since the fruits it contains are all so sweet and they make the compote sweet enough.

The fruits we use for this recipe are raisins, sundried apricots, carobs, dried figs and fresh apple. All of these are already helpful for new moms, and they double the benefits when combined this way. You can’t believe how sweet it becomes even without sugar!

Make sure that you wash all dried fruits well before using to remove any dust or dirt on them. They don’t need any other process, just toss them into a pot.

Mom makes it especially for me, but everyone in the family enjoys it cold, so it has become one of the favorite summer drinks of my family.

I highly recommend it not only to breastfeeding moms but also to those in search for a good cold drink for summer days!
