  • Chocolate Cake With Yeast

    Ingredients

    • 1 c. Butter
    • 2 c. Sugar
    • 3 x Large eggs separated
    • 3 ounce Unsweetened chocolate, melted
    • 1/2 pkt Yeast
    • 1/4 c. Lukewarm water
    • 1 c. Lowfat milk
    • 2 3/4 c. Sifted cake flour
    • 1 tsp Salt
    • 1 tsp Baking pwdr
    • 1 tsp Baking soda
    • 3 Tbsp. Warm water
    • 1 tsp Vanilla

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour 2 9" round pans.
    2. Dissolve yeast with 1 tsp. sugar in 1/4 c. hot water. Dissolve baking pwdr in 3 Tbsp. warm water. Sift flour, baking pwdr and salt.
    3. Cream butter and sugar. Add in yolks, chocolate and yeast. Mix well.
    4. Add in flour mix alternately with lowfat milk. Add in baking soda mix and vanilla. Beat till smooth. Mix in stiffly beaten egg whites.
    5. Pour into prepared pans. Bake for 45 min.
