  • Chinese: Spicy Sesame Beef Stir Fry

    Ingredients

    • 1/2 lb Tender boneless beef, such as sirloin, cut crosswise into scant 1/4 inch slices
    • 1 1/2 Tbsp. Sesame seeds
    • 1 lrg Broccoli stalk
    • 1/2 x Yellow bellpepper, thinly sl
    • 1/2 c. Canned beef broth
    • 2 Tbsp. Soy sauce
    • 1 Tbsp. Ginger, peeled, chopped
    • 1 lrg Garlic clove
    • 1 tsp Cornstarch
    • 1/4 tsp Dry crushed red pepper
    • 3 Tbsp. Vegetable oil

    Directions

    1. Combine beef strips with 1-1/2 Tbsp. sesame seeds in small bowl. Toss to coat well. Cut florets off broccoli stalk. Peel stalk and thinly slice crosswise. Combine broccoli florets and stalk with yellow pepper in medium bowl. Stir broth, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, cornstarch, and crushed red pepper in small bowl till cornstarch dissolves.
    2. Heat 1-1/2 Tbsp. oil in wok or possibly heavy large skillet over high heat.
    3. Add in beef and stir-fry till brown, about 2 min. Using slotted spoon, transfer beef to plate. Heat remaining 1-1/2 Tbsp. oil in wok. Add in broccoli and peppers and cover wok. Add in beef and accumulated juices from plate. Simmer till sauce thickens, stirring occasionally, about 1 minute.
    4. Transfer beef mix to platter. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds if you like and serve.
