To continue the International theme we have going this month with our cooking, I decided to dig through my recipes and come up with one of my grandmother’s easier German dishes. Now I am not entirely sure this is really German or just made by my German grandmother. However, it was a staple at her house and one of my aunts made it all the time for her family carrying on my grandmother’s tradition. This is so easy, tasty and the butter makes it rich. Paula Deen and I love our butter!

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup chicken livers, raw and diced up
    • 1 cup white long grain rice, not cooked
    • 1/2 stick butter
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1- 1/2 cups water

    Directions

    1. In a medium sauce pot combine all the ingredients. Cook over low to medium heat until the rice is tender and the liquid is completely gone. Stir occasionally so that the rice does not stick. Makes 4-6 servings.
