  • Cabbage And Potatoes With Caraway

    Ingredients

    • 1 head Cabbage (2 lb),shredded
    • 6 med Potatoes, peeled and diced
    • 3 Tbsp. Lard
    • 4 Tbsp. Flour
    • 1 cl Garlic, chopped
    • 1/2 tsp Caraway Seed
    • 1 tsp Paprika,Hungarian of course Salt and Pepper

    Directions

    1. Cover potatoes w/ water; add in salt and cook till half done. Add in cabbage adn more water if necessary to barely cover. Continue to cook gently till cabbage is cooked but still crisp. Stir cabbage and potato now and then.
    2. While cabbage and potato are cooking, heat fat in saucepan and add in flour.
    3. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly till mix is light tan in color. Remove from heat; add in garlic, caraway seed and paprika; mix to combine. When cabbage adn potato are cooked, add in flour mix to pot and stir in quickly so lumps don't form. Continue to simmer so flavors blend, about 10 minutes. Season w/ salt and pepper to taste. Good with hamburgers.
    4. Serves 6-8.
