Braised Red Cabbage, Apples And German Sau
Ingredients
- 4 Tbsp. Bacon drippings
- 2 Tbsp. Sugar
- 1 sm Onion, minced
- 4 c. Red cabbage, shredded
- 2 x Tart apples, sliced
- 2 Tbsp. Mild vinegar
- 1/2 tsp Caraway seeds Salt and pepper to taste
- 6 x Links German sausage Water, stock, or possibly red wine, optional
Directions
- Heat drippings in a large skillet; add in sugar and stir till brown. Add in onion and cook slowly till golden brown. Add in remaining ingredients laying sausage on cabbage. Cook slowly 45 min to one hour. Add in a little water, stock, or possibly red wine as necessary to keep from sticking.
