    Ingredients

    • 1 box moist cake mix, (any flavor)
    • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
    • 1 container creamy frosting
    • 3 oz. vanilla or chocolate-flavored candy coating

    Directions

    1. Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Spray bottom only of 13x9-inch pan with baking spray with flour.
    2. Prepare cake mix as directed on box, using water, oil and eggs. Pour into pan. Bake 30-33 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes.
    3. In a large mixing bowl, crumble the warm cake; stir in the frosting until well blended. Refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours. Drop mixture by teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheet. Shape into balls. (If mixture is too sticky, refrigerate until firm enough to shape.) Freeze 4 hours or until firm.
    4. In small microwave-safe bowl, microwave candy coating on HIGH for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring until smooth. Dip the balls, one at a time, in candy coating using a wooden skewer or fork to hold them.
    5. Place on aluminum foil-covered cookie sheet. Decorate as desired. Refrigerate cake balls about 10 minutes or until coating is set.
    6. Serve at room temperature. Store in airtight container.

I apologize if I am too critical but I am disappointed to see a "professional chef" posting a recipe made from box cake mix and processed, store bought frosting. I don't see how it could be tasty on any level for anyone with a trained palate.

There is nothing wrong with boxed cake mix. I realize that you must have formal training and scoff at anything that is too easy and not homemade. BUT I realize that not everyone on here has formal training and/or needs something quick. Yes if you scoff at my recipe post then do it the hard way and make your cake from scratch and your icing from scratch and temper your chocolate and make your own candy sprinkles and follow the basic directions.

Sorry you don't approve of something simple...

Looks very much like the "cake ball" recipes I have tried. I will definately try this. Sounds good.
