    For my 50th recipe I wanted a traditional South African dish. This is it ,from one of the many cultures we have in our country. this is a family favourite

    Ingredients

    • • 500gms cooked mince(mutton is best)
    • • 3 med onions chopped
    • • 1 clove garlic chopped
    • • 3 Tbs chutney
    • • 2 Tbs smooth Apricot jam
    • • 1 Tbs Worcester Sauce
    • • 1 slice stale white bread 2 cm thick
    • • 1 Tbs vinegar
    • • 1 cup milk
    • • 2 eggs
    • • 2 tsp curry powder
    • • 1 1/2 tsp salt

    Directions

    1. Soak bread in 1/2 cup milk,
    2. fry onion and garlic till soft,
    3. add curry powder fry for 1 min,
    4. add mince,salt and vinegar,chutney,jam and Worcester sauce,mix well.
    5. Remove from heat and add 1 beaten egg and mashed bread,mix well and place in casserole dish.
    6. Bake for 15 mins at 180 deg.
    7. Beat remaining egg and milk,season with salt and pepper and pour over meat. Place a bay or lemon leaf on top and bake for a further20 mins.
    8. Serve with yellow rice
