BASIL WALNUT PESTO RECIPE UPDATED
ORGANIC WALNUTS ARE NOW STANDING IN FOR PECANS AND FOR THE TRADITIONAL PINE NUTS IN THIS VARIATION OF PESTO! Ingredients
- 3 CUPS FRESH GARDEN BASIL LEAVES, CUT UP, SLICED OR CHOPPED
- 1 1/2 CUPS ORGANIC WALNUTS, GROUND
- 4 CLOVES ORGANIC GARLIC, PRESSED
- 1/2 CUP SHREDDED ORGANIC PARMESAN CHEESE
- 3/4 CUP ORGANIC OLIVE OIL
- 1/2 TEASPOON KOSHER SALT
- 1 PINCH GROUND BLACK PEPPER TO TASTE
Directions
- BLEND THE BASIL, WALNUTS, GARLIC, OLIVE OIL, SALT AND PEPPER TOGETHER IN NINJA FOOD PROCESSOR UNTIL THE MIXTURE BECOMES A SLIGHTLY CHUNKY PASTE.
- TO PRESERVE FOR FUTURE USE, PUT IN STAINLESS STEEL ICE CUBE TRAY.
- FROZEN CUBES CAN BE EASILY REMOVED AND KEPT IN FREEZER BAGS & ADDED TO SAUTE PAN WITH PRESSED GARLIC & CHOPPED ONIONS.
